Lessons

How long are lessons?

Assessments are 60 minutes long, and lessons are preferably 90 minutes.

Do you offer in-class lessons?

We offer in-car lessons only.

Where do you teach?

We cover East Vancouver, and Burnaby

What are your pickup locations?

Burnaby and East Vancouver – Joyce, Patterson, and Gilmore skytrain stations.

Do you offer home pickup for lessons?

We do home pickup for a fee depending on the distance from Skytrain. Please contact us if you would like to request this service.

What is your availability for lessons?

We teach Monday to Sunday. We are often booked up to 2 weeks in advance so please book early to reserve your lesson spots!

Scheduling

What is your lesson cancelation policy?

We require a 72-hour notice for any cancellations. Otherwise, a 50$ rescheduling fee will apply.

How do I reschedule a lesson?

Please call or text us at +1 (604) 854-4857 to reschedule. Please be aware of our lesson cancellation policy.

Can I book a full lesson to start?

We recommend starting with an assessment booking first, in order for us to properly assess and create a future lesson plan that works for you.

What is included with the Road Test Package?

The package includes 45 minutes of pre-test warmup and preparation. ICBC requires you to be there 15 minutes early. The test takes approximately 35 minutes. The final 15 minutes are for licensing procedures (including picture taking and paperwork).

How long can I use the package for after I purchase it?

Packages are valid for use and bookings up to one year from the purchase date.

What kind of cars do you teach in?

We use Toyota Prius vehicles for lessons.

Do you have manual cars?

We do not at this time but plan to provide training with them in the near future.

What is your refund policy?

Please refer to driving school policy for more information.

Are you insured?

Yes, we are licensed and bonded.

Are you ICBC Approved?

Yes, we are an ICBC Approved Driving School.

What languages do you teach in?

Lessons are available in English, Chinese, and Tagalog. Please contact us for more information before booking.

Can parents come along for the lesson as observers?

Yes, we accommodate this! But please refrain from coaching during the lesson.

Licensing

What types of licenses do you teach for?

Class 7 (L), Class 7 (N), Class 5 (L), and Class 5 (Professional)

Can I take a lesson if I have an international drivers license?

If you are licensed abroad, you will need to visit ICBC and be issued a Class 5 (L) before booking a lesson.

What if I am an international student?

All international students who hold valid licenses in their home country but go to the major post-secondary institutions in BC are able to take lessons.

What BC license do you need in order to take a lesson from us?

Class 5, Class 5 (L), Class 7 (L), or Class 7 (N)

Do teach motorcycle lessons?

No, we do not offer Class 6 or 8 training.

Do you teach truck driving/air brakes?

No, we do not offer Class 1, 2, or 3 training.

Took 4 lessons with Edy in Burnaby and passed my class 5 easily. Edy is patient but strict. He takes his lessons very seriously and made sure to point out every mistake and bad habit I had. Prices may be steep but very the amount of effort put in by the school and instructor makes it worth it. Thank you Edy. Also, a shoutout to Roanne who did all my bookings and made sure everything was perfect even when my test date was changed at the very last minute. Thank you very much. Highly recommended driving school, 5/5 is the highest i can give, but they definitely went above and beyond

I had Robert & Doel as my instructors for couple of lessons. and passed my test on my first try!! They where straight to the point with everything that I needed to work on but also acknowledge the things that I was doing great. and if you have a tight schedule like me , I highly recommend to give them a call & "Joane" their receptionist will most likely will work around your schedule & will tell you the best advised before your road test!! I highly recommend them if you really want to learn the best way, they are the way to go.

Having driven for almost 60 years, ICBC required my 75 year old husband to complete an Enhanced Road Assessment - a very thorough 1 hour road test. Coaching a seasoned driver who has picked up some bad habits is definitely more challenging than teaching a new driver! Rain was patient and encouraging while providing clear constructive feedback and easy ways to remember the key practices required for passing the test. Rain coached my husband for 6 sessions and he passed his test with flying colours! A big factor in maintaining his independence. Thanks again Rain!

I booked my lessons somewhat last minute not knowing if I was going to pass or not, but from the moment I booked them it was an amazing experience. The woman who works in the office was extremely helpful and got back to me right away with any questions I had. I did my lessons with doel and rain both of them are amazing, thorough and knowledgeable. They are friendly and take the pressure and the nerves that you have away! 10/10 would recommend to anybody. Doel was an excellent instructor. Patient, direct, and really relaxed despite making sure you didn't put the both of you in danger! I really appreciated how he rarely if ever took over the wheel or pedal break while you were driving. It felt authentic learning with him. He was professional but not intimidating or patronizing. I took about 10 hours of lessons and passed my Class 5 in a couple of months. He definitely prepared me thoroughly and lessons were actually fun. Thanks Raincity! 🚗

1) Fairly priced and convenient meet up locations. 2) Joane the booking lady is very accommodating and works very hard to fit everyone in the schedule. 3) The instructors are great. They are patient and adjusts to personal learning styles. The only thing is I wish they taught manual as well. I will definitely come back for my class 5 road test refresher. I used RainCity to supplement my driving lessons, as I felt the lesson package I bought from Young Drivers was not comprehensive enough. I had Robert as my instructor, and he was an excellent instructor. He was very patient, explained things very clearly and was extremely easy going and calm even when I made mistakes. He was extremely amicable, patient and made all of my lessons straight forward, but informative and fun. I would highly recommend Raincity and Robert to anyone looking for an affordable driving school and one that will teach you the skills you need to pass your road test. I passed my Road test on the first try, and I'd say 80% of that success is due to what I learned from my lessons with Robert.

Excellent service with great instructors. I was able to pass my test (in Burnaby) after taking a few lessons with Robert and Doyle. There wasn't any issue with different instructors because they all have a same car (Toyota Prius). After a couple failed attempts at trying to get my dad to teach me how to drive. I decided it was time to take lessons. A friend mentioned RainCity because their rates are lower than other driving schools. My first lesson was with Robert. After the lesson he recommended the 18 hour package. At the end of my lessons I took my road test and I passed. I really recommend taking driving lessons. It was worth it! I wish I took lessons years ago. Thank you Robert for helping me!

Raincity is probably the best driving school in the area, both for its staff and rates! What I enjoyed most.. 1) Joane was extremely helpful, very responsive, and worked very hard to match my requested schedule as closely as possible. 2) The two instructors I had, Rain and Robert, were both very helpful and gave good instructions and tips for both general driving as well as the tests. 3) They offer a lesson right before you take the test that was so helpful to iron out some nerves and correct some small issues. It really helped me pass that first test.

I highly recommend RainCity Driving School! Rain, the driving instructor, offers great advice, tips and guidance on how to drive and learn the rules of the road. I would definitely recommend Raincity to anyone learning to drive. I was able to pass my Class 7 on the first try. I went into my scheduled test feeling confident because my lessons prepared me for everything I needed to know. Rain (my instructor) has a real knack for explaining things well and his patience and calm demeanour made my learning experience easy and fun. I did the 12 hour package and that was just the perfect amount of lessons to get me from not knowing how to drive AT ALL to driving everywhere.

I would highly recommend the RainCity Driving school and especially instructor Rain! He went above and beyond in explaining the basics in a very short time. I have booked 45 minute pre test which helped me a lot with getting acquainted with the area of the actual test. My experience with the school was nothing but amazing. It was very easy to book the time slot needed and the whole attitude is very professional. Fairly priced, convenient, professional and informative. Passed my test from the first go! Would also recommending studying at home and looking up YouTube videos if you have been driving previously. That helped me a lot.

I decided to book driving lessons for my son after reading positive reviews about RainCity Driving School. Since our experience was great, I decided to write a review as well, which is something I do not often do. I purchased a package and RainCity did a great job of booking lessons right up to the Road test for my son. Rain even took my son out the day before his road test, even though it was Sunday. Both instructors, Doel and Rain, were patient and very knowledgeable. After each lesson they would text my son with a list of items he needed to improve on. This list was very helpful when I took my son out to practice driving as we referenced the list for things to practice. My son got his ‘N’ on his first attempt because of the great lessons he received from RainCity. I will recommend RainCity Driving School for new drivers.

I had such informative and great lessons with all the instructors. I mainly had Rain who had a very calm demeanor. He's super friendly and kept me calm throughout all of our lessons. I had Doel and Gene for one lesson each. Doel gave me lots of confidence in my driving abilities and simplified everything I needed to know. Gene was great as well! Super friendly and informative. I passed my N test on my first try thanks to these 3 guys! Also Roanne the lady who does the bookings was very helpful as well!

Passed my driving test today with just my first try! I did not have any other lessons or constant practice aside from my lessons with my driving instructor.No experience in driving before but he helped me passed my test.Thank you to my patient and friendly instructor Kuya Ed. He is kinda strict but funny at the same time and thats how I learned so fast. His parallel and reverse parking techniques are so perfect! RainCity Driving school is one of the best driving schools in the city. Rain and Rob are fantastic teachers with detailed and specialized training methods. I just passed my Class 5 road test and it was all possible due to their keenness in helping me out with lessons and noteworthy tips. Awesome driving school. I just passed my N for the first try. I supposed to cancel my appointment coz I felt I'm not yet ready but for the last 3 lessons Rain help me to be confident enough and encouraged me to take the test. It was just the right timing to take the test. He was so patient and very calm instructor. Plus their price is affordable compared to other well-known driving schools. Rain and Robert took me from near zero driving experience to a successful Class 7 (N) road test on the first try. This is a fantastic driving school and everyone here is completely dedicated to developing confident and safe drivers! I was taught by Edy and he was the perfect balance of patient and encouraging, but also stern and helpful, all of which I needed to become more confident as a driver and pass my road test. We went through all the possible maneuvers and routes that I could have been tested on. This helped tremendously when I actually took my test. I am very happy to have found this school and I wouldn't hesitate at all to get help from them for my Class 5 road test. There is a reason they get a lot of students, so book sessions well in advance!

This is an awesome driving school with excellent driving instructors. I had Rain do an assessment session with me, maybe a week or two before my road test as a review on what I could work on and try and perfect for the test. That assessment went well and I felt a lot more confident leading up to the date of my test! A day before my road test I ran into a couple of complications with using my parents' car and was unable to use it and contacted Rain again and he was able to accommodate my needs and pretty much on the spot when I had messaged him and I passed my test with no problem at all and even my examiner said that my driving was excellent and that my test paper was blank as he didn't catch any major mistakes. All in all, I did an hour session with Rain the first time around and then an hour before my test as a warm up and in those two sessions we were able to cover a lot. So if you like quick replies and awesome accommodations with thorough lessons, and reasonably priced lessons, definitely contact RainCity Driving School. It's also family owned and ran :)

Today was my second lesson and I'm more than happy with them. I haven't driven before and I was having some practice with my husband but as soon as I get in the car he starts to yell at me, after a few minutes he begged me to find a driving instructor. Edy is a really nice dude! Went beyond his paid hours to meet me 9pm for 25minutes to show me different test routes of the class 5 exam. I passed the test today and received this comment from the examiner; Mr. Wayne (examiner): "you have one of the cleanest papers I have ever seen". Since there are no mistakes, theres nothing to write down on the exam scoring sheet.

I had no experience with driving and needed an instructor with a lot of patience. I also don't do well under pressure, if this is you, ask for Rain or Robert. They are great and very patient. I was able to drive with both of them. If you have some experience with driving and need brushing up, I would go with Edy (I also had lessons with Edy). He is a bit more disciplined and expects a bit more out of you (don't be careless and just forget what you learned last). Your experience will depend on how well you can handle constructive criticism. He is slightly less patient in tone, but in the end he teaches well. Just do what he says and remember it. You'll pass. Try to be patient with him as he tries with you. I found that taking a few extra lessons with Edy helped me sharpen up, even if it was a little more stressful, it helped greatly. Passed on second try for the N.

Where was the patience everyone talks about? Eddie seemed very short with me, and at times was not clear with his instructions. Then he goes on to tell me about how badly one of his students did that day...how does that help me? That makes me feel worse. Really dissapointed considering how highely recommended these guys are, I wont be coming back.
