RCDS Covid-19 Worksafe Action Plan

Risks:

Covid-19 can spread through droplets and contaminated surfaces. The risk of transmission increases with proximity, time and number of interactions with people. The enclosed cabin and close proximity of seating and frequent contact with vehicle controls means the student and instructor are situated in a high risk environment.

Prior to your lesson:

Please review the following questions to confirm your fitness to enter the vehicle. Your answer to all of the questions should be NO prior to the lesson.

  1. Have you tested positive for COVID-19 or come in close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19?
  2. Have you been asked to self-isolate or self-monitor in the last 14 days?
  3. Have you traveled outside the province of BC in the last 14 days?
  4. Are you feeling well? Do you have a fever, cough, chills, shortness of breath, or difficult breathing?

If you have ANY respiratory symptoms or feel unwell at all you will not be permitted into the vehicle.

Other information for your lesson:
  • Students are invited to wear masks; but it is not mandatory.
  • Please refrain from carrying any non-essential belongings if possible (i.e. jacket, hats).
  • Companions or pets will not be allowed.
  • Card payments are preferred at this time; but cash is still accepted.
Our Instructor Protocols to Reduce Risks:

We are limiting our number of clients to 60% of our normal capacity. We will only allow the student and the instructor to be in the vehicle, no other passengers will be permitted.

Cleaning and disinfecting high touch areas at the start and end of the instructor’s shift and between lessons. We will use BC CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting for public settings. There will be a gap between each lesson to allow for the proper cleaning and disinfection of the vehicle. Hand sanitizer will be available for everyone to use when necessary.

Whenever possible, we will provide instruction outside the vehicle. Whenever possible we will drive with our windows down to promote fresh air circulation. Except in an emergency situation, there should be no physical contact between the student and instructor. We encourage payments to be made online, to avoid physical contact.

Our instructors will wear personal protective equipment – gloves, mask and eye protection. We are instructed to wash our hands frequently and to cough or sneeze into our elbows.

Any employee who has arrived from outside the province shall self isolate for 14 days.

Any employees with symptoms that include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and new muscle aches or headache shall not work and shall self isolate for 14 days. If they start to feel ill at work, they are to go straight home and call 8-1-1 for further guidance related to testing and self-isolation. Their vehicle shall be cleaned and disinfected thereafter.

We hope the above measures offer you some reassurance that we have your safety and health as a priority. We appreciate your patience and understanding and look forward to serving you again!
